We rescued our latest fur babies from a shelter. DiDi (black) and Dexter (brown) are brother and sister, I swear! They are "double trouble." I've never raised two puppies at the same time and it was definitely a challenge. But, they are sweet babies and get lots of love and attention from the whole family.
I'm thrilled to combine my passion for writing with my passion for animals.
Born and raised in Indiana, I also spent ten years in Akron, OH, twenty plus years in Memphis, TN, and recently moved to Alexandria, VA. Every few years I have to revisit the Indiana state fair for roasted corn and a fried pork fritter sandwich. But it's been a delight to experience different parts of our great country.
I love learning and earned a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted to be as I grew older. In the beginning, I was a mental health counselor. Then I moved to health care marketing and strategic planning. I even taught a college course.
Eventually, I chose to become a non-employed mom and spent my time raising children, dogs, and volunteering. My charity work was aimed at animal organizations. I was blessed to be part of a small team who opened the first low cost spay & neuter clinic in the mid-south area (www.spaymemphis.org). Other than my love of animals, the one thread of consistency was my love of reading and writing.
Now that the kids are out of college and on their own, my days are spent tapping computer keys and entertaining my dogs. I think I've finally figured it out!
